Picking a plan which includes a good wellness program and immunizations is critical for young growing families. Unicare and BCBSIL have the very best programs in these areas.
Which company is best for you? Well if you are picking a deductible below $1000 BCBSIL has the best combinations of benefits for the price in Illinois. If you are picking a deductible of $1000 or higher than UniCare gets the nod because of it's superior drug coverage at that level. BCBSIL seriously limits drug coverages on deductibles $1000 or higher, but they still have the same great no cost emergency room benefit at the higher deductibles.
Immunizations are excluded from more policies than you would expect so be sure to ask your agent if the policy you selected covers that for children under 6. UniCare, and BCBSIL both have provisons for childresn immunizations.
Wellness is becoming more rare as the cost of healthcare has skyrocketed. Always check the fine print to make sure that your yearly maintenance is covered by your health plan.
